How Much Sun?

Vegetables prefer a full day of sun, but some will tolerate a degree of shade, they may just be slightly smaller or slower growing.

8 hours of sun – fruiting vegetables –  This includes tomatoes, peppers, eggplants, and vine crops such as cucumbers, melons, and squash.

6 hours of sun – root vegetables –  carrots, beets, etc.

4 hours of sun – leafy vegetables –  “greens” such as lettuce, spinach and collards.
