I found these pots at the local garden centre – perfect for hanging on trellis. Again I’ve added the water-retaining crystals to the bottom of the pots in an attempt to get them through the week I am on holiday.
These sad-looking plants are my wild, alpine strawberries. They grow everywhere in my back garden and it’s usually a race against time to pick them before the birds eat them.
I’ve written previously about the rats we had in the garden; now hopefully gone, but I don’t fancy picking a strawberry from the ground where rats may still roam. If these five plants don’t survive, I’ll use the pots for herbs instead and put strawberries in my hanging baskets with – fingers crossed – my Tumbling Tom cherry tomatoes, now separated into small pots (in the centre of the left-hand tray below).
