“Feed me, Seymour
Feed me all night long…
‘Cause if you feed me, Seymour
I can grow up, big and strong“
I’ve taken a chance and moved my sarracenia into a larger pot.
With no access to commercial ‘compost’ (usually a mix of vermiculite and sphagnum moss), I’ve used this moss that my brother raked out of his lawn back in March.
The pot is one inch larger all round that the previous one, and every scrap of the moss pictured here has been used. It’s had a good watering with rain water and is back in its favourite spot.
Time will tell if it was the right move. And no, I haven’t called it Audrey!
Lawn moss? I have so, so many strong reservations.

It really does look like sphagnum moss – my brother’s garden is on clay and these patches remain damp for long periods, so – to me – it seems to be the same thing. It’s only packed around the outside of the pot, surrounding what it was already growing in. I’ll keep an eye on it though.

No worries about lawn moss! It’s the othe part of the comment… Part of the same Seymour ditty. 🤣
