Yesterday, my main package from J Parker’s finally arrived. As it’s been sitting in Evri’s delivery warehouse since last Monday, I wasn’t sure what to expect when I opened it, but everything looked fine, if a bit dry. Included in this package were 10 x Lily of the Valley plants which I potted up together and gave everything a good drink
I have one more plant to come – a geranium ‘Summer Skies’ – which should arrive in the next couple of days.
This morning, I’ve put everything except the Lily of the Valley into separate or larger pots using a mix of spent potato compost and growbag compost (all I had available) with added slow release fertiliser granules.
Callicarpa bodinieri ‘Profusion’
Callicarpa Profusion, also known as Beautyberry, is a beautiful eye-catching medium sized deciduous shrub which produces masses of tiny star shaped lilac flowers in summer. When pollinated, these start to form the outstanding clusters of vibrant purple, almost metallic berries we see in autumn and winter. They provide a valuable source of food for birds during the colder months. It is not just the berries that are showy. Young leaves begin a bronze-purple colour that mature to deep green in summer, before fading to lime green then eventually plum purple in autumn. We’d recommend planting in groups of three, 45cm apart. Height 150cm.J Parker’s

A beautiful ornamental clover that attracts butterflies and bees. Silver buds emerge as soft brush like mauve flowers with a delightful feathery texture; supported on sturdy stems reaching a height of 65cm, spread 45cm. Very free flowering; each stem presents two buds, the larger blooms whilst the smaller develops, then as the larger bloom fades the smaller opens lengthening the plants flowering time for a lovey mid-summer coverage. Its loose clump like habit and warm colour makes this a perfect filler for the summer border, blending well with other plants. Can also be used as a cut flower.J Parker’s

Now I’ve just got to keep them alive – and find the right place for them.
